Summer Time

Well its been a while since I've posted...been busy I suppose. My parents were here and the time seemed to fly by! We had a great time :-) We're getting back into our old routine now - its nice...although I wish Nic was home at a consistent time every evening. As it is though, there's no way to know when he'll come home - anytime between 6 and 8, sometimes later (last night was 12:45). But I can't complain :-) SO much better than OCS!

Colton has been communicating more...not in words so much as in little frustrated huffs and yells while looking at me. Usually its his shopping cart that is stuck, or he's trying to get in between a small space or he wants up on the couch or to sit on my lap. He's understanding more and more too. I told him to get his horse and he went and found it on the floor and showed it to me with a big grin on his face.

Nic and I are watching TV and Maximus just snuck down the stairs...he's hiding behind the side of the couch, trying not to be seen. lol.

Anyway, this week we've been busy having friends over while Nic is at work. Monday we did nothing, Tuesday we had 3 moms with their kids over for most of the day - we played outside in our kiddie pools. It was HOT. Wednesday we had our neighbor and her kids over for a couple hours and today we went to Goodwill and lunch with a neighbor and her son. (all these neighbors and friends we know from TBS) Tomorrow we have plans to go to Lunga Park on base with a bunch of other TBS moms in the afternoon. So we've been staying busy :-)

Luckily Nic passed his Land Navigations this week so he won't have to go in for remedial on Saturday...so we will probably pass our time doing nothing! Maybe go swimming! Maximus does really well - as we found out when Mom and Dad were here. He can swim without his lifejacket...probably about 10ft, underwater. He can almost touch the bottom of the pool in the 3 ft section so we taught him how to jump up and down in the water to take breaths. He's doing so well! It's so hard to believe that he's no longer my baby!

Maximus has found a friend in our neighbor Heidi's 4 yr old daughter Leisel. They play very well together, running around our yard or living room. I think he gets tired of playing with younger kids...most of my friends have children that are at most 1.5yrs. so its nice to see him actually get into "play mode" with some one at the same developmental stage as him. They ran around our house Wed shooting naughty guys and getting the buffalo :-)
